Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC)
Quality Assurance (QA)
Quality Assurance focuses on ensuring that proper technical requirements and procedures are established and followed throughout a project. QA activities include verifying supplier certifications, testing materials to confirm compliance with required standards, and ensuring proper handling, storage, and use of construction materials.
QA also involves monitoring construction processes, evaluating performance, and assessing results to ensure materials and workmanship meet established standards for quality, safety, reliability, and performance.
Quality Control (QC)
Quality Control is the process used to detect, measure, and evaluate the characteristics of construction materials and construction methods. QC activities include laboratory and field testing, inspections, and verification of materials to ensure they meet project specifications and applicable codes.
When deficiencies are identified, QC procedures may also include providing recommendations for corrective actions to help maintain compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
